17/03/2020 Update to Parents and Carers - Covid-19

17/03/2020 Update

Following the Prime Minister’s announcements yesterday we are continuing to update our information to parents. We  will continue to inform by ParentMail and on the school website, but that notice might be shorter than in usual circumstances.

However, at the moment there is no instruction to close our schools. We understand our duties of social responsibility and we are taking every precaution to ensure we are able to provide safe, continuing education. We have intensified cleaning routines and remind the school community about the importance of good hygiene routinely. Our contingency planning suggests we may have to consider the possibility of closing schools for certain year groups or demographics in line with advice we receive.

Increased precautions:

We have shared government advice about all eventualities and shared advice about identifying illness in school. If a child falls ill in school we know what precautions to take and we will inform you so that you can arrange for your child to be collected or sent home.

We continue to follow the advice from Public Health England https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19.

Government advice is now for everyone who has concerns to contact NHS111 Online. https://111.nhs.uk

We will be contacted by the local health protection team if there's an urgent public health action to take. They will:

Undertake a risk assessment

Advise us on any actions or precautions to take

and we will share this information with our communities as soon as we are made aware using the website and ParentMail.

Please continue to contact us about any absences from school.

Meetings, Trips and Visits

We have increased our use of email and conference call meetings to reduce face to face meetings. We are cancelling all trips and visits in line with advice to increased social distancing and many organisations have contacted us to let us know the actions they are taking. We are also cancelling after school clubs and activities in the secondary phase. We will continue to monitor the advice in relation to the after school provision in primary phases. Please expect your children home in good time at the end of the school day or vary your collection routines to accommodate this.

We are cancelling all non-essential visits to school and advising people of the consequences of this.

We will be advising parents of the online learning resources as they become available. Please use the website for information in the first instance.
