Outcome of Admissions Consultation - Prendergast Vale School (Nursery)

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

Outcome of consultation on the proposed introduction of rising-three nursery places at Prendergast Vale School from September 2026

The consultation on the proposed introduction of rising-three nursery places at Prendergast Vale School took place between Friday 5 June and Sunday 28 June 2026.

The consultation invited parents, carers, staff and other stakeholders to comment on the proposal to extend the nursery's age range to enable a limited number of eligible "rising threes" (children aged two in the term immediately preceding their third birthday) to access nursery places from September 2026.

Following the conclusion of the consultation, the Trustees of the Leathersellers' Federation of Schools considered the proposal and have approved the introduction of rising-three nursery places at Prendergast Vale School.

The proposal will:

  • enable the nursery to admit a maximum of five eligible rising-three children at any one time, where places are available;
  • continue to operate within the nursery's existing accommodation and staffing arrangements;
  • make effective use of existing nursery capacity throughout the academic year; and
  • continue to comply with all statutory safeguarding, staffing ratio and welfare requirements.

The Department for Education has now approved the extension of the nursery’s age range to enable the admission of eligible rising-three children. The revised nursery admission arrangements therefore take effect from September 2026.

The Nursery Admissions Policy and Nursery Charging and Remissions Policy for 2026–27 have been updated accordingly and are now published on the Prendergast Vale School website.

Yours sincerely,

Helen Ingham

Chair of the Trust Board
